Software Installed on 1st-Call Classroom Computers

The Apple computers under our care are setup with OSX (10.7 Lion), Office 2011 (Word, PowerPoint & Excel), Shockwave player, Flash player, iTunes, QuickTime, Safari, Firefox, RealPlayer, VLC (Divx player), and Flip 4 Mac.

Note: Password is not required for access to the "Presenter" account on the MACs, as the same desktop space is shared by everyone.

The Dell computers under our care are setup with Microsoft Windows 7, Office 2010 (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.), Microsoft Forefront Antivirus software, Adobe Reader, Shockwave player, Flash player, iTunes, Quicktime, Firefox, Realplayer Alternative, Divx, and VLC player.

Note: These PC computers do require a personal TXSTATE NetID for login. It creates a local/non-roaming profile, which provides a personal space for each individual, so we suggest that everyone log out of their personal space before leaving the room.

Special Software Requests

Instructors needing special software beyond the standard setup are strongly urged to submit their software requests prior to the start of each new semester. In order to comply with software licensing requirements, we will need a valid copy of the software and proper licensing. Please provide all the necessary installation codes and unique installation instructions, if there are any.

If a software request needs to be submitted after a new semester begins, we will do what we can to help, but please understand that it may be difficult or impossible to fill last minute requests when the location is occupied by classes. (We ask for a two weeks notice, which should allow ample time for us to schedule the installation, and we suggest that the particular presentation be tested to be certain that it is behaving as expected before the presentation day.)
