What is Turnitin?

Turnitin allows instructors to check papers submitted through the program for improperly cited materials or potential cases of plagiarism by comparing the work against continually updated databases.

How does Turnitin work?

Instructors are issued an account with Turnitin and create a site within the program. Instructors give students the class enrollment ID and password, which students use to join the class. Instructor create an assignment with dates of availability and other options. Students then submit their work to Turnitin for processing. Instructors are able to view an originality report which details all suspected passages and allows you to view the original source.
