A mailing list service is a communication tool that offers a means by which members of group can post questions or information to each other via email. When a member posts a message to the list's address the message is distributed to all of the other members or subscribers of the list. A mailing list can be created with a variety of settings which include web archives of list messages, open or closed list membership and open or moderated message posting.
