GETTING STARTED [top]
Your instructor will provide you with a class ID and enrollment password. If you have lost your class ID or enrollment password call 512-245-5566 or email us at turnitin@txstate.edu.
CREATING AN ACCOUNT FOR NEW USERS [top]
- Go to http://www.turnitin.com
- Click the create user profile link (located beneath the Log In button)
- Select student as the user type
- Type in the class ID and enrollment password provided by your instructor
- Click next
- Type in your Texas State email address. This will be your username.
- Click next
- Type in your password and retype in the confirm password box
- Click next
- Select a secret question and answer
- Click next
- Type in your first and last name
- Click next
- Click I agree –create profile
- Click end wizard and go to login page
LOGGING IN [top]
Type in your Texas State email address and the password you created.
SUBMITTING AN ASSIGNMENT [top]
- Click the class name to view the class homepage (the class name is located beneath the account name and to the right of the class ID)
- Click the assignment name to view details related to the assignment
- Click the paper icon to submit a paper (located to the right of the assignment name)
- Select file upload
Note: Turnitin accepts Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, and plain text. The file size limit is 10mb. - Type in the submission title
- Click browse to search your desktop or disk
- Click open once you locate your file
- Click submit
- Click the blue yes submit button
VIEWING PAPERS AND ORGINALITY REPORTS [top]
- Click the class portfolio button or the portfolio folder icon
- Click the title of the assignment to view your paper
- Click the Report Icon (located to the right of the assignment title and date submitted)
Note: the report icon will be blue, green, orange, yellow, or red
TURNING IN YOUR PAPER AND REPORT [top]
Your instructor will let you know if you need to print your paper and originality report.
Turnitin does not create your report instantaneously, so please be patient! Submitting papers more than once can cause a delay in originality report delivery.
Please do not wait until the last minute to submit your papers. Texas State is not responsible for delayed reports and/or report delivery from Turnitin. There is nothing we can do to rush anything.
